Nature of award
Monetary award of $5,000 including travel grant and an appropriate plaque. Award received by one prize winner.
Purpose
To recognize and stimulate distinguished service to animal production internationally.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this award, the nominee should have made a meritorious scientific contribution by way of teaching, research or other service to animal agriculture over a period of five or more years, and must have been nominated by three (3) members of Associations affiliated to the World Association for Animal Production.
Particular attention will be paid to the international significance of the contribution in terms of the livestock sector, overall.
The award nominating committee
The Scientific Advisory Committee is responsible for the selection of the awardees.
The Scientific Advisory Committee may reject all nominees when, in their opinion, no worthy candidate has been nominated.
Awards will be presented on the occasion of the WAAP congress.

A dossier that contains the following material:
o Biography of the nominee
o List of publications, courses taught and other pertinent credentials
o Summary statement of 2 pages maximum documenting accomplishments and outlining the major contributions to international animal production on which the nomination is based.

Tewolde Family Award from Dr. Assefaw Tewolde
Nature of Award
Monetary awards of € 500 for paper and € 500 for poster and an appropriate plaque.
Purpose
To recognize and stimulate distinguished service to animal production internationally.
Eligibility for nomination
To be eligible for this award, the nominee(s) from a developing country (UN list) shall have completed the graduate degree (MS or Ph.D.) within five years of the date of submission of the paper for presentation.
The award is given for the most outstanding orally presented paper and or the best poster as judged by the evaluation committee, based on scientific quality, relevance to the livestock industry and quality of presentation both written and oral. One (1) nominator each is required.
The Award Nominating Committee
The Scientific Advisory Committee is responsible for the selection of the awardees.
The Scientific Advisory Committee may reject all nominees when, in their opinion, no worthy candidate has been nominated.
Awards will be presented on the occasion of the WAAP congress.

- Biography of the nominee
- Written paper / poster to be presented
- A letter of nomination which addressed the relevance of the research to the livestock industry and the potential of the nominee for a successful career.
